Madison, WI lies at the doorstep to the best trout fishing in the upper Midwest with Black Earth Creek 15 minutes from town to 13,000 miles of trout streams throughout the Driftless Region. The limestone spring creeks provide trout with consistent 50-degree water temperatures; and an abundant forage base of mayflies, caddis, midges, scuds, leeches, baitfish, and crayfish. This provides us with good fishing opportunities ranging from dry fly fishing to nymphing to streamer fishing for larger trout. This area is truly the Midwest’s Montana.
Our trips begin on the west side of Madison and transport you from busy city traffic to peaceful rural areas with rolling hills and valleys. We go from an urban area of 300,000 to an isolated scenic valley and uncrowded fishing experience in less than 30 minutes.
Our half-day trips focus on the streams within 30 minutes of Madison in Dane, Green, and eastern Iowa counties. The full-day trips range farther afield to Grant, Crawford, and Vernon counties requiring a longer drive and 8 hours of fishing. Full-day trips put us on less pressured water, more grazed land for easier fishing and more options for clear water in big rain events.
