The first time that Chris fished the Pere Marquette, he was a freshmen at Ferris State University and the teachers went on strike. Beer and pizza were in short supply in Big Rapids and the fabled Pere Marquette river was calling (conveniently located 20 miles to the west of campus). That was the fall of 1987, and the call of the river is stronger today than ever.
Chris loves teaching people how to fish the river and his passion is contagious. As a father of four, he also has a knack for teaching kids to fish. Although the majority of his time is spent fly fishing, He does offer spin, centerpin and back plugging fishing trips as well.
Guiding on the river 12 months of the year, he is familiar with the resident fish as well as the migratory runs. Stripping streamers, floating dry flies both day and night, waking mice, floating indicators, nymphing and swinging flies are some of the types of techniques that he employs.
